Lucy Sanders

Lucy Lee Cox Sanders, born February 16, 1924, passed from this life January 13, 2023, at her home in Pace, Florida, with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Sanders in 1986. Her parents were Eula Bay and Richard Odom Cox. She was born and raised in Greenville, Alabama. She was the youngest of five sisters, Eunice, Catherine, Olivia, and Tootsie, and grew up with a special cousin, Billy Owen. She also shared a close bond with her niece, Myrna Cohron Bayne. She is survived by three children, Linda Sanders Farnell (Ken), Richard Keith Sanders (Gail), and Debbie Sanders Hughen: ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. This talented lady could whip up a meal or sew something up in a flash. Her door was always open for visitors to share a cup of coffee, enjoy one of her special desserts, hear a few jokes, or play a game of dominoes.
Visitation will be from 9:00am until the funeral service begins at 10:00am, on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Tom Sharron will officiate.
