Lynne Mcelhaney

Lynne Meyer McElhaney went to be with our heavenly father on Sunday, February 14, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dr. Richard McElhaney, daughter Ginny McElhaney-Simmons, son Lieutenant Colonel Richard (Carolyn) McElhaney Jr., sister Dr. Mary Kathryn Meyer, brother Lewis John (Carma) Meyer, and niece Katie Meyer. She was proceeded in death by her parents Len and Nora Meyer. She is a loving Mimi to Zakary Marshall Simmons, Leah Kathryn Simmons, Marshall Brodie McElhaney, and Meyer Christopher McElhaney.

Lynne made motherhood an art. She had a loving heart and wanted everyone to succeed, even at her own expense. Lynne was an accomplished teacher with two Masters of Science degrees from The University of South Alabama and numerous awards and accreditations. Always trying a new recipe or reading a new journal, she never stopped learning and inspiring others to learn and better themselves. Her joy of teaching did not stop in the classroom. Lynne was a wealth of knowledge to her family and especially her grandchildren, always taking the opportunity to turn the most mundane activity into a learning point. She found similarities between cooking and science intriguing, excelling greatly at both. Nothing compared to Mimi's meals. Lynne was an amazing wife, mother, teacher, and friend. Her smile and love will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2021 at 11:00am at Mobile Memorial Gardens followed by chapel service at 12:00pm..  Donations in her memory may be made to Mobile SPCA, 620 Ziegler Circle West, Mobile Alabama 36608. www. Mobile SPCA.org.
