Margaret Louise Puckett Byars, a native of Carrollton, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Taylor Puckett, Sr. and Maggie Mae Downs Puckett; her husband of 64 years, Martin Franklin Byars; her sister, Sara Puckett Knight; her brother, John Taylor Puckett, Jr.; a granddaughter, Merri Leah Kightlinger; a grandson, Adrian L. Ashburn, Jr. and her son-in-law, Lawrence Glenn "Buddy" Harrell, Jr. Her survivors include five children, Joseph Martin (Sheila) Byars, Marsha Lynn Byars Morris, Sarah Robbin Byars Rhodes, Margaret Ann Byars (Tony) Elmore, and Martha Jean Byars Harrell; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Josh Byars, Mike Finch, Jr., Chuck Finch, Chris Finch, Geremy Finch and Ben Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers will be her fourteen grandsons. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Friday, September 1, 2017. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
