Margaret Turner

April 14, 1928 — March 20, 2025

Heaven received another angel with the passing of Margaret Lowman Turner on March 20, 2025. Margaret passed peacefully after having spent her morning with her son, Hampton, who had cared for her over the last months of her life. Margaret was born in Andalusia, Alabama on April 14, 1928. She predeceased by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Wilburn "Joe" Turner, and their cherished son Blake Turner. Margaret is survived by her beloved son Hampton Turner of Mobile, Alabama. Margaret was known affectionately as "Memaw" and is survived by her five grandchildren, Brooke Sullivan, Hailey Whitley, Ashley Godsil, Troy Turner, and Brett Turner. Memaw also had many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews with whom she stayed in touch with and cared for throughout her life.

Margaret and Joe both served for the United States as part of the United States Army. Memaw was an active member of the Government Street Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama where she attended weekly services, many church events, and taught Sunday School for the children of Government Street Baptist Church up until the time of her passing.

Margaret had a smile that lit up any room she entered. Her love filled the hearts of all those she met. Memaw was very active in her children's and grandchildren's lives participating in their schooling, religious education, and attending many, if not all, of their extra-curricular activities. Memaw spoke with great pride about her family, who she loved deeply. She was an incredible role model to all those who came in contact with her and served with her in the many activities and functions that she engaged in throughout her life. Memaw would often tell her family how much she loved them and remind them that she loved everybody because they were all God's children and so she loved them with all of her heart. Knowing Memaw was to know intelligence, honor, respect, and the deepest love that we can know on earth. Memaw will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known her.

The family expresses gratitude to all the caregivers in the Mobile, Alabama area who made her life peaceful over the most difficult past several months.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 2pm. The family will receive friends from 1pm until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
