Margie Cagle

Margie Smith Cagle of Mobile passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Margie was born September 18, 1939 to Donald L. Smith Sr. and Margie Jeffries Smith. Margie was a graduate of Murphy High School in 1957. Margie worked in the Title Insurance business for over 40 years. Margie was a faithful member of Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church. Margie was an elder and took over the task of preparing Communion from her parents after they passed and also was responsible for preparing coffee and cookies after church and many, many other church functions, along with operating the sound room. Margie was a member of the Mobile Christian High School Athletic Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service. Margie was a member of the MCS Booster Club and ran the Concession Stand well after her two sons graduated. The basketball concession stand is named in her honor. Margie was known for her quick wit, infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit. She loved being involved with her sons and her grandchildren. Margie was an avid sports fan and attended many Auburn, South Alabama and Baker High School football games. Margie is survived by her son, Douglas "Doc" O. Cagle, Jr. and wife Laura and granddaughters Brenna and Callie; son, Christopher "Kit" V. Cagle and wife Andrea and granddaughter Giada and grandson Declan; and sister Sally Cutshaw. A celebration of Margie's life will be held Friday, October 1, 2021, at 2 p.m from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church, 4201 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, Alabama 36609 or the charity of the donor's choice.
