MARIE LOUISE BREAUX (BURKE) TURNER
Sep 29, 1922 - Jan 18, 2017
Marie Louise Turner was born on Sep 29, 1922 to Louis Joseph Valentine Desiree Breaux and Sophie Ann Prejean Breaux in Crowley, LA. She spent her early years in Iota, LA and moved to Church Point, LA where she attended grade school. She attended Church Point High School where she played softball and other sports and graduated as Salutatorian of her class.

Marie Louise (known as Mary Lou to her friends) attended Louisiana Normal in Natchitoches, LA for one year where she studied Biology and Chemistry. Always knowing she wanted to be a Registered Nurse, Mary Lou moved to New Orleans in 1939 and attended Charity Nursing School at Charity Hospital from 1939-1943, and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

It was in New Orleans where she met Daniel Wilbern Burke, Jr who was attending Medical School at LSU-NO. They married on April 14, 1944 and were married until November 29, 1971 when he passed away suddenly. During their marriage they traveled to many countries, played golf, attended LSU Football games all while happily rearing 7 children. After Dan's death, she went back to work at the Mobile Infirmary as Head Nurse on 5NW and the Health Clinic Downtown Mobile. Justifiably, she was so proud of her vast medical knowledge and nursing abilities and was called upon by many for medical help throughout her life.

In 1975, Mary Lou met Billy Roscoe Turner through mutual friends and they married in August 1975. Throughout their marriage they lived in Vicksburg, MS, Gulf Shores, AL, Greenwood, MS, Dauphin Island, AL and finally in Mobile, AL. They, too, traveled, played golf with all their friends on Dauphin Island and had many dinner parties and football game gatherings.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her father, Louis Joseph Valentine Desiree Breaux; her mother, Sophie Ann Prejean Breaux; husband, Daniel Wilbern Burke, Jr; daughter, Meredith Jane Burke; her brothers, Joseph Paul Breaux of Lafayette, La and Joseph Louis V Breaux of Broussard, LA; her sisters Evelyn Ann Breaux Fontenot of Church Point, LA and Barbara Teresa Breaux Scarbrock of Lafayette, La. She is also preceded in death by husband Billy Roscoe Turner of Mobile, AL; bonus daughter, Candee' Turner Grey of Vicksburg, MS and bonus grandson, Walker Neel Ehrhardt of Jackson, MS.

Mary Lou is survived by her children Daniel W Burke (Marilyn); Shawn Marie Burke Smith, Gregory Alan Burke (Nancy); Barbara Burke Sullivan (Joseph C. Jr), Suzanne Burke Baughn (Samuel) and Richard Bradley Burke (Mary).

She is also survived by her bonus children Sibley Neel Turner (Terri); Kathryn Turner McGill (David); William Soria (Rusty) Turner; and Mary Kevin Turner (B).

Mary Lou was a friend to all, always had a smile on her face and love in her heart.
She was blessed with 25 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly.
