Marilyn Robertson Wigger Phelps, a native of Gallion, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the age of 69. Marilyn grew up in Gallion and Greensboro, AL and loved living the "country Life". Her first pet was a lamb and, during her younger years, her main entertainment was riding horses and barrel racing. Her recent favorite pastime was playing dominoes and attending bible study at the Connie Hudson senior community center. She and her husband enjoyed traveling around the United States. She loved to have holiday parties of any kind! Family and friends looked forward to her Halloween and Christmas get-togethers each year. She graduated from Greensboro High School and attended college in Livingston, AL. She taught pre-school (4-year-olds) for 27 years and was an active member of Kingwood United Methodist Church for over 30 years. She brought a smile to the faces of everyone she met. Her biggest joy was making others happy, sharing all her love and baking for any occasion. Her specialty was pecan and pumpkin pies. She was a wonderful woman of our Lord and Savior. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, William "Billy" Robertson and Louise Monroe Robertson Belcher, and her first husband and father of her two children, David I. Wigger. Her survivors include her husband, Donald G. Phelps; two children, David R. (Robby) Wigger and Jessica (Frank) Killian; step-daughter, Tina (Dave) Blackwell; grandsons, Rylan, Nathaniel and Alex; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
