Mark Turner Watson (1953-2022) - Mark Turner Watson, a longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away on Monday, May 16th, 2022 after a short battle with cancer.
Mark was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Katherine Watson. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 42 years, Susan Watson; son Josh Watson; daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Shaun Laurio; three grandchildren, Jack, Emily, and Anna Katherine; sister Kathy Willis; niece Corinne (Justin) Hayward, cousins, and many exceptional friends, including Greg Swain and Bruce Mikell.
Mark attended Davidson High School, Gulf Coast Academy, and Auburn University, where he met the love of his life and spent many Saturdays cheering on the Tigers with his football obsessed wife. In his younger years, you could find him surfing at the beach every day. As he got older, he traded his surf board for disc golf and woodworking, and found joy in being outside no matter what he was doing. Mark worked in the lab at Chevron Refinery for 37 years before retiring to his man cave (workshop). Although his workshop was a close second, Mark loved his family and friends more than anything in the world and he will be missed every day by the people who loved him.
A special thanks to the sweet staff at Kindred Hospice (especially Christina) for their love, care and dedication to our whole family during this time.
Visitation will be Friday, May 20th from 5:00-7:00pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. A celebration of life party will be held on Saturday, May 21st at a private residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mark's favorite charities: Dumas Wesley Community Center (126 Mobile St. Mobile, AL 36607), United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile (3058 Dauphin Square Conn, Mobile, AL 36607) or St. Jude Children's Hospital (Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
