Jacqueline Marlene Kizer, a long-time resident of the Eastern Shore area, passed away peacefully at home on Mother's Day, May 14. Born June 26, 1934 in Stateline, MS, Marlene attended Murphy High School in Mobile where she met her husband of 63 years, Perry Kizer. Marlene & Perry lived for several years in Tuscaloosa, AL where Marlene worked at Sokels department store while Perry obtained his degree at the University of Alabama. It was there that Marlene's two sons Bill and Randy were born. Upon the family's return to Mobile, Marlene settled in as a homemaker & loving mother known for her wonderful southern cooking. In 1976, the family moved to Daphne and remained on the Eastern Shore where Marlene formed many lifelong friendships. Marlene is survived by her husband Perry Kizer, sons Bill (Heidi) Kizer and Randy (Mona) Kizer, grandsons Keith and Brett Kizer, granddaughters Kelly Kizer and Ivy Williams, great-grandchildren William and Kaleigh Evans, and her sister Betty Carol Barrow. The family is forever grateful to Marlene's special caregiver Sherry Nicopolis as well as the Kindred at Home Hospice for taking such beautiful care of Marlene in her final days. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimers Association (alz.org). Graveside services and interment are scheduled for Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 12:00 PM in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
