Mary Susan Melvin Broun, 81, passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2020. Mary was born on January 17, 1938 in Harvey Louisiana to Cliff and Lillie Melvin. At the young age of 16, Mary graduated from Pensacola High School. Soon after, she met Stephen Frederick Broun in Mobile, Alabama. The two married in 1958 and moved to Dallas, Texas where they raised their four children. Mary was an energetic and fun-loving stay at home mother before returning to the workforce in the oil and gas industry. She rose to a management position in Sun Oil Company’s Materials Management Department. Mary continued to work for much of her life and held a hostess position at Fish City Grill where she loved to visit with friends and neighbors. In 2017, Mary moved to Boise, Idaho to live with her daughters and enjoy the mountain views.



Mary was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Frederick Broun and her brother James Waldon Melvin. She is survived by her sister: Aileen Prine; her children: Sharon Keeler, Stephen Broun (Dottie Broun), Susan Loyd, and Sandra Broun; her grandchildren: Aaron Brown, Kara Fenton Dent (Dan Dent), Katie Fenton, and Madeline Lowry; her great-granddaughter: Erinn Hurley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
