Freeland, Mary Virginia Pollard 90, of Mobile, Alabama passed away peacefully Thursday March 10, 2016. For the last several years she has been a resident of Benton House Assisted Living in Newnan, Georgia where her son and his family live.
Mary loved the Lord and her family and she proved it in many ways over her 90 years. She worked for AmSouth Bank (now Regions) in Mobile for 28 years. Starting out as a secretary and working her way up to Vice President of Personnel. She faithfully served in Union Baptist Church of Grand Bay for 65 years. There is still a Sunday School Class named in her honor. After retirement she enjoyed her sewing talents even more making quilts and sewing for her great grandchildren.
Mary was born February 7, 1926 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Maude Seale Pollard and Charles Pollard. She was married to the late E. L. (Bill) Freeland for 64 years. They had one child E. Greer Freeland who preceded her in death in 2012. She is survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Freeland, loving grandchildren, Howard E. Freeland II (Shirley), and Becky Freeland Walden (Billy) all of Sharpsburg, Georgia. Great grandchildren, Trey Freeland, Drew Freeland, Aden Freeland, Mallory Sellers, Jacob Walden and Justin Walden. She is also survived by her sister Peggy Woodworth of Mobile and her sister-in-law June Freeland Heard of Roswell, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens with Bro. David Walley officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00am until the service at noon. Internment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
