Mary Alice Wiygul Gaston Hobson, a native of Nettleton, MS and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died peacefully at the age of 87 at her home that she loved on Dog River. She was a longtime member of Government Street Presbyterian Church; a graduate of Spring Hill College, a graduate of the University of Alabama and retired Chief Medical Technologist at Doctors' Hospital. She enjoyed cooking; fishing and crabbing; Mardi Gras; animals; entertaining her family and friends and Alabama Football. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Quitman Wiygul and Gelena Armstrong Wiygul; her husbands, Dr. Charles W. Gaston and Raymond H. Hobson; two sisters and one brother. Her survivors include her daughter, Katherine "Kathy" Simpson Eckel; nephews, Steve (Jennifer) Boykin, Ashton Boykin and Don (Susan) Wiygul; nieces, Mallory Boykin, Stacy Lowe and Courtney (Rob) Johnson; other relatives and friends. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Mrs. Hobson's caregivers, Annie McCullum, Mary Ann Young, Kenny Young, Margaret Buckley, Edie Thomas and Pat Dale, for their exemplary care and support. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
