Mary Jane Fountain Guiles

11/18/1947 - 3/5/2025

Jane was a native of Greenville, Alabama and the only child of Frank and Coby Fountain.

She lived in Mobile for the majority of her life but lived in New Orleans for two years in 1970 and then, California for three years in 1972, before committing to live in Mobile, near her cherished mom.

She graduated from Murphy High School in 1966 and went on to business college. Upon graduation, she began her 20-year career in office management. After he mom's premature death at age 60, she dropped out for 2 years before finding her calling, working for homeless cats. She was the SPCA Spay Neuter/Rescue chairman for 2 years.

In 1989, she entered into the title research arena. She and her long-time partner Michael O'Hear co-founded Guiles & O'Hear, LLC in 2002. She worked in the title industry for the remainder of her life.

Jane loved cats and worked closely with Aide for Animals (Betsy Haas) and Mobile Bay Cats (Valerie Blankenship). She was a long-time donor and supporter of their work. She had endless hopes of how the future could be changes for homeless animals, if the right person in the US got a financial movement going.

Her favorite job (1976) was being the liaison for United States Senator James B. Allen for 3 years. She flew to DC all the time and worked a lot with Greeks, getting naturalized in the US. She even had lunch one day with the Senator in the formal and very private Senator's Dining Room, just the two of them. It was very special to her - a privilege.

Janes was predeceased by her soulmate and much-loved Maine Coon, Lexie, who is in her own urn in Jane's casket.

She leaves behind her beloved Mike O'Hear, cousin Stanley Fountain, his wife Cindy and daughter Jennifer, her special fairy-granddaughter, Michaela Sweeney, as well as the many, many friends she was blessed with, during her life.

A lover of flowers, Jane has requested florals for her funeral, as she thought it would be nice to see and smell them. Of Course, anyone wanting to support her 2 cat charities, please remember Aide for Animals and Mobile Bay Cats.
