Mary Catherine Blackmon Lee, remembered by family and friends for her kind and loving spirit, passed away at home Saturday at age 91. Mrs. Lee was a Mobile native and member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. She worked as office manager for her first husband's companies, Blackmon Real Estate & Insurance, and Model Homes of Mobile and Pascagoula. She also served for many years as an administrative assistant at the University of South Alabama. She was known for her gentle smile, her love of God, the love she showed her husband and children, and the kindness she offered all those who crossed her path. Her roast, gravy and pound cakes were unsurpassed. She had the ability to grow any plant, and loved to paint and write.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garvin Franklin Blackmon Sr.; parents Herbert William Sindorf and Catherine Elsie Godfrey; sister Lois Kroner and husband Carl Kroner, and her beautiful daughter, Patricia Katherine Blackmon. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Max Lee; children Linda (Art) Eidman, Garvin F. Blackmon Jr., Joe (Cyndi) Blackmon; stepdaughters Anita Lee and Jan (Scott) Pettersen; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation begins on January 11, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with services at 10 a.m., followed by burial. Cottage Hill Baptist Church will host a lunch reception.
