Mary Rudd

Mary Ernestine Rudd died peacefully in her home in Mobile, Alabama on November 27, 2018 at the age of 81.
Ernestine is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert (Bob) Rudd Jr., daughter, Teresa (Ronnie) Vance, son, Mark (Alison) Rudd, grandchildren Larissa (Rob) Byrd, Aaron (Vanessa) Hoyt, Joshua Vance, Jill (Rick) Andrews, Allison Vance (Frankie Capps), Katie-Ruth Rudd, Renee Rudd, and Saundra Rudd. She is preceded in death by her father, Hubert Ernest Nation, mother, Viola Spain Nation, and sisters Louise and Francis.
Ernestine was born February 10, 1937 in Rome, Georgia to loving parents. She was a proud "preacher's kid," as her father was a vocational minister in the Assembly of God church. She and her parents later moved to Quincy, FL and she graduated from Quincy High School in 1955. The same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Bob. After moving to Mobile in 1971, Ernestine began working for Commercial Guarantee Bank as assistant to the Vice President, and eventually became branch manager. She loved her role as manager and built lifelong friendships with co-workers and customers alike. Ernestine was an active member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church, where she taught 3rd grade Sunday School for many years.
A funeral is scheduled for 10:00am on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Rev. Ronnie McCarson will officiate the ceremony. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ernestine Rudd's name to the Assemblies of God general fund at www.giving.ag.org
