Mary Helen Belz Sheppard, born August 6, 1925, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2016 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ella Belz, and her husband, LeRoi Sheppard. Her survivors include her daughter, Nanci Barnhill; two sons, Carlin (Martha) Sheppard and Darrel Sheppard; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. During World War II, Mary Helen supported the war effort by working at the Ammunition Dump in Mobile, AL. She then passed the Civil Service test and moved to New York to work for a year. She transferred back to Mobile to serve in the Federal Court House where she worked until starting her family. After raising her children, she worked for the Mobile Public School System. She retired from Modern Sound when she was in her 80's. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Mobile, AL where she served the Lord willingly throughout her life. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
