Mary Katherine Beeson Waite, age 93, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 9, 2018. Mary was born in Chatfield, AR, was raised in Holly Bluff, MS and was a longtime resident of Mobile, AL. She was the daughter of Lee Roy and Mae Elizabeth Beeson. She married Leon Waite in 1947. Mary earned a degree in Education from the University of South Alabama and taught school until she was 70. She taught fourth graders at Cottage Hill Baptist School many years and led many children to the Lord. Mary loved children and was a born teacher. She was known as a woman of prayer. She was sweetness and mercy. Mary was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Ann Cook and Alfred Beeson; a baby sister, Viney Mae Beeson and her only grandson, Hunter Norton. Her survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth McNamara and Katherine Ann Norton, and her spouse, Ernest Norton; sons, Leroy Taylor Waite and Joseph Leon Waite, and his spouse, Alice Waite; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. The family is grateful to Kindred Hospice for their excellent care and support. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM from Luke 4:18 Fellowship. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
