Mavis Longmore Martin, age 84, died suddenly on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. A native of Warrington, England she was a resident of Theodore, AL for 60 years. Known to many as Miss Mavis or Auntie Mave, she was a dedicated, faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Theodore and was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, WMU and served as a Deacons wife. She also spent many enjoyable days with the Krafty Kritters Klub and was a member of the British Womens Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert F. R. and Ethel Rachael Longmore of England. 1 sister, Patricia L. Fogg of England. 2 brothers, William Longmore of England and Edwin Longmore of Sacramento, CA. 3 sister in laws, Frances Martin, Arragene Martin, of Marion, AL and Mary M. Baker of Eufaula, AL. Her husband of over 60 years, Dr. Judson R. Martin, Jr of Theodore and her beloved daughter Patricia Martin Weldy of Houston TX. She is survived by her son, Judson R. Martin, III of Mobile, AL, Son in law, Philip Weldy, of Houston, TX. 2 Brother in laws, John S. Martin Linda of Mobile, AL and Robert Baker, Sr. of Dothan, AL. 1 sister in law, Ann Longmore of Sacramento, CA. Many nieces and nephews, 3 very special, Bobby and Lynn Baker of Dothan, AL and Belinda Frances Martin, of Brooklyn, NY. Many, many friends, several of which she considered her sisters, Jean Hansen, Elfriede Anderson, Peggy Cox, Elinor Fountain, Delores Willingham, all of Theodore and Audrey Davison of Charleston, SC. And all the Girls in the British Womens Club. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 3:00 pm from the First Baptist Church of Theodore, 7125 Bellingrath Road, Theodore, AL, Rev. David Gill officiating. The family would like to thank Wayne and Sylvia Burkett for the love and care that was given to Mavis on Tuesday.
