Maxine "Mackey" Springer of Mobile, AL died Sunday, December 4, 2016, at the age of 80. She was born January 9, 1936 in Washington, DC, lived in Silver Spring, MD and grew up in New Orleans, LA, where she graduated from Warren Easton High School. She attended Louisiana State University and retired from Sears Roebuck. She was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church in Mobile, AL and volunteered at Providence Hospital during her retirement years. She loved grilled shrimp and watching QVC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxfield Lund and Isabelle Dussom Lund. She is survived by two sons, Michael Springer (Monette) and Phillip Springer; one daughter, Elizabeth Carey (Chris); four grandchildren, Anda, Katherine, Steven and Sam; three great-grandchildren, Lily, William and Virginia; one brother, Daniel Lund (Carole); two sisters, Carolyn Bell (Frank) and Marjorie DelFavero; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time. Entombment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ASPCA or your local humane society.
