Melva “Janice” Wilson, age 83, a resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully Monday, August 10, 2020 with her family by her side. Her favorite hobbies were dancing, bowling, and sewing. In her younger days she enjoyed playing various instruments in the Salvation Army Band. She loved playing softball and being a coach for teams on which her daughters played. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and her all time favorite player was Hank Aaron. Janice was a good cook and everyone looked forward to her holiday candy. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Walter “Bootsie” Wilson; parents, Hugh Marvin Black Sr. And Sadie Azalee Gollotte Black; one stillborn baby boy; grandsons, Shane and Shawn Winsett; siblings, Lavetta, HM Jr., Elmer, Juanita and Hayward. She is survived by her children, Janice “Jan” Wilson (Tony) Montoya, Cindy Wilson, Walter (Bonnie) Wilson Jr., Lynn Wilson (Richard) Rone, Anne Wilson and Keith (Sheryl) Wilson; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10am with visitation starting at 9 am until service time. Interment will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
