Melvin Ray Pierce, a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the age of 78. He was a US Navy Veteran. After retiring as a millwright, Melvin owned and operated several social clubs in the Mobile area, including the Long Branch, Poor Melvins and Crazy Melvins. Mr. Piece was preceded in death by his parents, John Jefferson Pierce and Ruth Rebecca Deason Pierce. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Pierce Elliott of Tampa, Florida, and Mary Ruth Pierce Rouse of Mobile, AL his brothers, Glen Barbara Pierce of Hattiesburg, MS and Milton Gen Pierce of San Antonio, TX nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 12:00 Noon in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
