Michael "Mickey" McDonald, a resident of Mobile, AL since 1968, began his life in Rodderfield, WV on April 21, 1942. He passed away at home on Friday, July 15, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Mickey was a US Army National Guard Veteran; a machine operator/supervisor at Teledyne Continental Motors for 19 years and the owner of Mickey's Used Cars in Theodore, AL for 23 years. He was a member of the Bass Master's Association and Mobile Bass Association for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vivian McDonald. His survivors include his wife of 25 years, Sharon McDonald, one daughter, Leslie Ann (Rett) Phillips; one grandson, Colt Phillips, who called him "Uncle Mickey"; one brother, Charles (Joyce) McDonald; one sister, Janet Underwood; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Mickey had a passion for fresh water fishing that began in the hills of West Virginia when he went camping every weekend with his parents and family friends. When he moved to Mobile in 1968 and began fishing the Mobile River Delta and the Alabama River, he said he would never leave, for he had found his home. Later in life, Mickey took up the sport of golf. He enjoyed the days of his retirement golfing, fishing and cutting grass. Mickey was raised a Methodist. He loved his God, wife, daughter, grandson, family and his many friends. In a breath of eternity, we will see him soon. "I love you today, my Honey."

Pallbears will be George Stagner, Elijah Crawford, Charles Brown, Wayne Phillips, Chris Boshell and Gabe Williams. Honorary pallbears will be Fritz Kraft, B.J. Mitchell, Henry Gollotte, John Crawford, III, John Crawford, Jr. and Roy Waller. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
