Mike Speaks, of Auburn, Alabama, was called to his heavenly home Friday, January 28, 2022. Mike died peacefully, at the age of 80, with his beloved wife, Carolyn, by his side. Mike is preceded in death by his father Alvin Speaks, mother Hilda Speaks, brother Larry Edward Speaks (Ann), and granddaughter Kaylee Marie Allison. Mike is survived by his wife Carolyn Walters Speaks, son Timothy Mikell Speaks, daughter-in-law April Reynolds Speaks, daughter Tammy Speaks Allison, grandsons Jackson Mikell Speaks (Carson), Harrison Beasley Speaks, Griffin Timothy Speaks, Sullivan Lee Speaks, Samuel Wallace Allison and granddaughter Lily Grace Allison. Mike was born in Alexander City, Alabama, lived in various cities throughout the south as a child, and graduated from Vigor High School in Mobile, Alabama in 1959. After marrying in 1963, Mike began life with his sweetheart in Auburn, Alabama where he later graduated in 1967 with a degree in civil engineering from Auburn University. Mike began his professional career at PolyEngineering in Mobile where he worked for six years. In 1973 Mike opened his own business, Mikell D. Speaks & Associates, which he served as president for 27 years and worked as a consultant until he passed. Mike was a devoted church member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church and Luke 4:18 Fellowship in Mobile, where he served as chairman of deacons, building chairman and sunday school teacher. At the end of his life, Mike was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Opelika. Mike was known by all for his love and service to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This was evident in how he conducted buisness, his commitment to his many friends and most of all, his devotion to his wife and family. Mike was a man who truly prayed without ceasing and treasured studying God's word. His passions included time at the beach, Suduko puzzles, eating seafood, all things related to Auburn, spending time with his grandchildren. A celebration service will be held Friday, February 4 at 11:00am with visitation before at 10:00am at Luke 4:18 Fellowship Church, located 2664 Sollie Road in Mobile.
