Mildred Elizabeth Cowart Dykes, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, July 15 2015 at the age of 84 surrounded by her loving family. Left to cherish her memories are three children, Lee W. (Jeniece) Dykes of London, AR, Debbie Hill of Grand Bay, AL and Gwen (Rusty) Worsham of Macon, GA. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Melissa McCarver, Shannan Whitaker, Melanie McDuff and Brandy Ramsay. She was also a loving great-grandmother to 12. Mrs. Dykes was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bruce Dykes, Jr.; her father, Leora Cowart; her mother, Alice Cowart Dixon; sister, Clora Strickland; brothers, L. W. Cowart and Allen F. Cowart and son-in-law, Leroy Hill. Mrs. Dykes was a past member of the Good Sam's Campers. She enjoyed arts and crafts, but most of all, enjoyed spending time with her family. The family would like to thank Sara Jenkins, her loving caregiver, and Gentiva Hospice for their support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mrs. Dykes' name be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P. O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, July 17, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Jiggs Ramsay, will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Music will be provided by Al Cowart. Marion Ramsay, Woody Ramsay, Ly Kroch, David Adams, Billy Dixon and Reagan McCarver will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
