Myrium Lyna Stokes Foster went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the age of 71, after a hard fight battling with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a 20 year veteran of the United States Merchant Marine. Lyna was a 1962 graduate of Dothan High School and a loyal Auburn fan. She was born on April 26, 1944 in Dothan, AL. Lyna is survived by her husband Steve Foster; son, Travis Powell and his wife Cemira of Greenville, AL; daughter, Kari House and her husband John of St. Francisville, LA. She was also survived by her two sisters Reva Ward and her husband Donnice of Echo, AL and Sonya Halstead and her husband Tommy of Wedowee, AL. Lyna was the adoring grandmother of ten grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces. Her step children; (Steve's children), Erik C. Foster, Erika C. Matzer and Echo L. Orta. She was preceded in death by her father W.B. Stokes and mother Ellie Mae Stokes of Dothan; sister, Eve Corbin of Montgomery and brother, Roger Stokes of Dauphin Island. Lyna spent the majority of her life on Dauphin Island where she enjoyed oil and acrylic painting, freshwater fishing on the rivers, ponds, lakes and gardening. She loved being with family and with true and loyal Dauphin Island friends. She was also an animal lover including her two dogs Kiwi and Chloe. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 2:30 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday 1:30 until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers family request memorials be made to Dauphin Island Veterans Association P.O.
