Grace and Peace from God our Father, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. The family of Nathan Hale Smith, III announces his passing on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 7:49 pm. "Smitty" passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Thomas Hospital. He was a very loving, strong and brave man that was loved by everyone who knew him. Proverbs 22:1, reads, "A good man is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver or gold." Smitty was this good man that the Bible teaches us about and lived this his 75 years of life. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy Smith, sons Brent and Chad Smith and daughters Paige and Rachael Smith. He has 3 grandsons and 7 granddaughters. He loved them all so much and treated all of them as his own as well as several others that he was very close to. Smitty was a millwright at Kimberly Clarke for nearly 33 years and once retired, he worked several years off shore with Superior Energy Marine Services. He was an avid hunter that loved the outdoors and never short of a hunting story and you couldn't find a bigger Alabama Football fan than him. He is a Veteran of the United States Army National Guard and served in Germany during the Berlin Wall Crisis. Smitty was a true Patriot that loved his Country, his family, but more importantly, his Savior, Jesus. His last words were, "I love all Y'all!" Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 8:30 AM.
