Nelson Reede Cooley, Jr., a native of Stillwater, OK and current resident of Fairhope, AL, died suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Pensacola, FL doing what he loved to do, Kyudo - Japanese archery. Reede was an Eagle Scout; enjoyed photography; loved woodworking; made his own arrows; and cherished spending quality time with family and friends. He was a retired Fetal Pathology Assistant and was a former employee of the University of South Alabama Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Reede Cooley, Sr., PhD and his mother, Nancy Rollins Owen MacFarlane. His survivors include his wife of 25 years, Katherine Marie Cazalas Cooley; his sister, Susan Reede Cooley, PhD; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Mr. Cooley's name be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered to www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
