Dr Norma Doolittle passed away peacefully on Sunday January 17, 2021 surrounded by loving family. She was born in Castleberry, Alabama December 19, 1936 to Samuel Oliver and Pauline Olivia Warren Oliver, both now deceased. Norma graduated from Conecuh County High School in 1955 at the top of her class. She was admitted to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where she met David Doolittle of Mobile, Alabama. She and David dropped out of school in 1958 and were married at Castleberryl Baptist Church 8/30/1958. Norma was a devoted and loving wife. She and David shared 62 1/2 years of marriage.
Norma and David had two children, David Keith and Pamela Ann.
Norma went to nursing school and worked as an ICU nurse at Mobile Infirmary. She later started teaching nursing and taught at Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing, Mobile College and then moved to the University of South Alabama as Professor, Adult Health Nursing Director, Advanced Gerontological/Diabetes ManagerNursing Program and retired in 2005 as Norma O Doolittle, MSN, EdD, Professor Emeritus.
Norma would like you to know her work here is done. She has moved on to a place where she will be reunited with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. She will be socializing, singing and playing the piano (she always said she would play the piano when she got to heaven). She left detailed instructions for her loving, devoted husband, David Doolittle, her children, David Keith and Pamela Ann, six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, family and friends to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts! We love you! Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial gardens Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.
