Norma Waldress, a beloved member of the Mobile, Alabama community, passed away on June 13, 2023 from complications related to pneumonia. She was born in Mobile on August 20, 1933, to Nick Norman Reaves and Wilda Driskell.
Norma had an incredible work ethic, which she displayed throughout her career. She worked as an office manager first at Brookley Field before retiring from GM&O Railroad. Her dedication and diligence towards her job earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Norma graduated from Semmes High School and was known for her intellectual acumen and love for learning. She enjoyed reading books on diverse topics, including history and science. During her leisure time, she loved to watch movies and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Funeral services honoring Norma's life are set to take place at the Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home located at 6040 Three Notch Rd in Mobile, Alabama. Family and friends are invited to join for visitation starting at 10:00 AM on June 17th. The funeral service will commence an hour later at 11:00 AM in the same location.
Norma is survived by her only daughter Deborah Hudgens along with several other family members and close friends. Her husband Charles L Carter preceded her in death, as did Robert Waldress, whom she married after Charles' passing.
In addition to Deborah and other family members, Norma leaves behind memories that will be treasured by those who knew and loved her. Grandson Jason Dionne and his wife Ashley will cherish memories of their beloved "MaMaw". Zachary W Dionne, Makenzi R. Dionne, Brizbie M. Dionne, Norma's three sweet great-grandchildren will always have fond memories of their loving great-grandmother.
She will also be remembered fondly by many cousins who have been touched by her generosity and warm spirit.
Norma will be deeply missed, but her legacy and memories will live on in the hearts of people whose lives she touched.
