Norman Hemington Foster, Jr. was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. He was honorably discharged from the US Air Force, serving as an electronics technician, later retiring from Bell South, AT&T and the University of South Alabama. He was also a member and avid sailor of the Buccaneer Yacht Club for over 60 years and served as Vice Commodore. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman H. Foster, Sr. and mother, Ernie Mae Blalack Foster. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Clark Foster; brother, Ronald P. "Ronnie" Foster; sister, Donna Marie Foster; two daughters, Daphne Anne Foster and Shannon Maria (Dave) Johnson; granddaughter, Clara Rachel Dyson; two step-sons, Chris (Brooke) Thistlethwaite and Scott (Gena) Thistlethwaite; three grandsons, Jackson Thistlethwaite, Titus Thistlethwaite and Milo Thistlethwaite; three nephews, Ryan (Kelly) Foster; Matt (Wyndy) Foster and Dr. Elliott Foster; great-niece, Bridget Foster; numerous cousins, other relatives and close friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 1:00 PM from Our Savior Catholic Church on Cody Road. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Interment with military graveside honors will follow in Valor Park, Mobile Memorial Gardens. Mr. Foster will be missed by all. "Gone but not Forgotten". In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mr. Foster's name be made to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Mobile.
