Norman L. Garlotte was born September 20, 1926, died Wednesday August 15, 2018 in Fairhope, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Vashti Garlotte, his sister, Mildred (Jack) Green. He is survived by his wife, Earlene, of 66 years, son Michael (Donna) Garlotte, daughter DiDi Grant, son Charles (Cindy) Garlotte, three grandchildren (Michele, Bradley and Kolton), two great grand grandchildren (Bradley and Emma), brother Melvin (Helen) Garlotte, nephews (Barton and Bryan) and other family members across the country.
Norman was born and raised in Mississippi. He graduated from Pascagoula High School and earned an engineering degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army in Japan. He retired from Shell Oil Company in 1989 where he worked for over 30 years as an award-winning engineer.
He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, friend and colleague. He especially enjoyed family gatherings and reunions. He had a dry sense of humor and fun use of sarcasm. He lived his life with quiet dignity and integrity, always the gentleman. He had a great love of Southern coastal living and was proud of his family and heritage.
He was an active member of his Sunday school class at Woodridge Baptist Church. He was also a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, August 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 8:30 AM.
