On Thursday, July 1, 2021, Olive Brenda Lavender, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at age 88. Brenda, better known to everyone as "Granny", was born on November 23, 1932 in Grand Bay, Alabama to George Watson Johnson and Era Anna Driskell Johnson. She was a graduate of Mobile County High School, class of 1950. Upon graduation, Brenda married Dennis Martin Lavender on June 14, 1952 and they raised four children, two daughters and two sons. Brenda was a very loving and involved "Granny" in the lives of her grandchildren. She was a dedicated member of Christ United Methodist Church and active in her Sunday School class. Brenda was predeceased by her husband, Dennis Lavender; parents, George Watson and Era Anna Johnson; her brothers, Ray Johnson and Wayne (Yvonne) Johnson; her sister, Louise Johnson; and son, Ken Lavender. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Marty (Laurie) Lavender, Jeannie (Ron) Roberts, and Darlene (Tim) Mosley; her grandchildren, Jesse (Ali) Lavender, Shelley Lavender, Casey Lavender, Mick (Angela) Roberts, Dustin (Tamara) Roberts, Colby (Meredith) Roberts, Anna (Clay) Agee, Jenna (Leighton) Griggers, Katie (Steven) Chestnut, and Zack (Danielle) Lavender; her great-grandchildren, Taylar Lee, Ethan Roberts, Jillian Roberts, Carly Roberts, Livi Roberts, Lucy Roberts, Lilly Kate Griggers, Mary Barton Agee, Haley Lavender, Kholie Lavender, Ella Kate Lavender, and Jaxson Lavender; her sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson; and numerous extended family and loved ones.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 10:00 AM from Christ United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilefuneralservice.com.
