Onolee "Lee" Fillmore Gant, age 93, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 after a short illness. She was a native of Tennessee and a longtime resident of Dauphin Island and Mobile, AL. Lee grew up in Harriman, TN and attended Tennessee Wesleyan College after graduating from high school in Harriman as Valedictorian of her class. She became a licensed beautician and practiced in East Tennessee. She met her husband of 65 years, Robert E. Gant, Sr., and they were married in 1943. After World War II, they lived in Nashville, TN with brief re-locations to Atlanta, GA and Memphis, TN. They moved from Nashville to Dauphin Island, AL in 1984. Lee was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, William Henry Fillmore, Jr. and Elizabeth Sivils Fillmore Brown; and a brother, William Eugene Fillmore. She is survived by her son, Robert E. Gant, Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Plano, TX; a granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Gant (Marshall) Grant of Irving, TX; a brother, William J. (Rosemarie) Fillmore of Jupiter, FL; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Lee worked for many years as an insurance underwriter's assistant and later as a proof reader for a newspaper in Tennessee. She was dearly loved by family and friends and was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Mobile, AL. She loved to travel, read and do crossword puzzles. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10:00 AM. Until 12:00 Noon. Entombment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
