Patricia Blakeney

Patricia Jean Piper Blakeney, a native of Bowling Green, Ohio and a longtime resident of Mobile, died on Saturday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Margaret Beisecker Piper and Walter Thomas Applewhite Piper, one sister, Joan Elizabeth Piper McWhorter and one brother, Richard "Dick" Thomas Piper. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, M.B. Blakeney; two nephews, Jim McWhorter and Tim Piper; three great nephews, Matt McWhorter, Michael Piper and Gary Piper; one great niece, Jordan McWhorter Graham. After Pat's family moved to Mobile, she attended and graduated from Murphy High School in 1947. Following graduation, she went to work at American National Bank. She later joined her mother in business with Stanley Home Products. She later retired as an area manager for Waddell & Reed. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mobile Genealogical Society. She was an active and longtime member of Springhill Baptist Church. At one time, she was an active golfer, enjoyed gardening and loved to travel. There was nothing she wouldn't attempt and would not accept "can't" as an answer. Politics was a passion and she was always ready for a discussion or debate. She deeply loved her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by all. Her absence will be felt most acutely by her loving and devoted husband, M.B. Blakeney. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11 am at Springhill Baptist Church Chapel. Visitation will start in the Chapel at 10 AM. Private burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
