Peang Ang

December 20, 1945 — October 18, 2017

Peang Ly Ang a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother "Matyay", sister, aunt, and
friend to all who knew her peacefully departed this earth to heaven on Wednesday October 18,
2017 at the age of 71 from the University of South Alabama Surgical Intensive Care Unit. She
was a long time resident of 42 years of Mobile, Alabama. She was born in Cambodia on
December 20, 1945 to Mr. Srun Ly and Mrs. Teak Leng. She had numerous brothers and sisters
of which some have preceded her as a result of the Communist Regime and Civil War in
Cambodia. She barely escaped in 1975 and immigrated to Mobile, Alabama in 1975 with her
husband, a 3-year old son, and a 6 month old daughter. South Brookley United Methodist
Church sponsored the family. She was a loving and devoted wife to Mr. Koan Ang (Province
Director of Secondary School and Professor of Mathematics in Cambodia) who retired from
Flowerwood Nursery after 35 years. She was a loving mother to son Syrypy Ang (who is a
Mechanical Engineer working for the Department of Defense for the Navy in the Propulsion
Engineering Department) and daughter Dr.Romsel Ang (University of South Alabama Mobile
Diagnostic Center Internal Medicine Physician who is married to Dr.Brandon Mark Peters
Alabama Coastal Radiology Diagnostic Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine Physician for the
Infirmary Health System). She has one brother in town Noeuv Ly (wife Teak Ly and nephew
Benny Ly ).She would retire after 27 years from the Mobile County Public School System
(English as Second Language Teacher Aide) to help raise 4 grandchildren. She loved with all of
her heart and gave all she had to her grandchildren of Dylan Mark Peters, Madison Ang Peters,
Carter Glenn Peters, and Sairra Ang Reagan Peters. She still had the time to volunteer and
work as a Cambodian Translator, Bayou La Batre Community Center Senior Citizen Volunteer,
Providence Hospital Out Reach, Bishop State Community College, and numerous other
positions.
She loved to cook, fish, and help anyone in need. To help celebrate her life a chapel service
will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (251-661-7700) on 6040 Three Notch
Road, Mobile, Alabama 36619 on Sunday October 22, 2017 at 2:00PM with visitation from
12:00PM to 2:00PM at the same vicinity. Because of her love to cook and feed everyone she
knew, we are asking for those who would like to bring food to the cafe at the same vicinity no
later than 11:45AM on the same day to share.
The family would like to thank all family and friends. The family would also like to thank all
who were involved with her medical care recently including the University of South Alabama
Medical Center, Springhill Hospital, and Providence Hospital.
