Pearl Cobia Grovenstein passed away on Friday. Pearl was born in Soperton, Georgia and raised in nearby Savannah. A retired bookkeeper, she was a longtime resident of Mobile, most recently residing at University Oaks of Mobile. Pearl was a faithful parishioner of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Johnnie Grovenstein; her son, Austin Grovenstein; her beautiful daughter-in-law, Melissa Grovenstein; her parents: Jim and Minnie Cobia; four brothers: Harry Cobia, Virgil Cobia, Roy Cobia, and Ed Cobia. Survivors include two sons: Gerald Grovenstein, Larry Grovenstein (Ann); four grandchildren: Dane Grovenstein (Johanna), Evan Grovenstein (Jessica), Brian Grovenstein (Becky), and Tiffany Grovenstein; one great-grandchild, Hope Grovenstein; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 6100 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, Alabama, 36693. Officiated by Rev. Joy Blaylock, a church funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
