Peggy June "Peanut" Childre Lutz, a native of Dozier, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the age of 79. Peanut was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross and Mobile County Sheriff's Flotilla. She was also employed by the American Red Cross as Blood Distribution Clerk. She was a former member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church, Dauphin Way Baptist Church and Luke 4:18 Fellowship. She enjoyed ceramics and crafts and, of course, her volunteer service to the community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix Beasley Childre and Annie Cecile Sirmon Childre; her brother, Richard Childre and her sister, Jean Childre Scarboro. Her survivors include her husband of 58 years, Merlin Floyd "Lucky" Lutz, Jr.; two daughters, Karen Lutz Davis and Ann Lutz (Jerry) Cassity; grandchildren, Angie Shaw (William) McKean, Lisa Shaw (Chris) Bergeron, Scott Davis and Joe (Sonia) Shaw; her sister, Ann (Jimmy) Childre; four great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Robert S. "Bob" Lutz, Sr. and his wife, Thelma; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Robert S. "Bob" Lutz, Sr. and Rev. Robert S. Lutz, Jr. will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 11:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
