Perry William Kizer, Jr. a long-time resident of the Eastern Shore, passed away on March 4, 2023. Born February 18, 1935 in Mobile, Al. , Perry attended Murphy High School where he met his wife of 63 years, Marlene Odom. Marlene & Perry lived for several years in Tuscaloosa, AL while Perry obtained an Engineering degree at the University of Alabama and became a life-long Crimson Tide fan. During this time, Perry's two sons Bill and Randy were born. Upon graduation, the family returned to Mobile where Perry worked first at Brookley Field, then later at the Corps of Engineers where he retired after 30 years. Perry also served in the Army and Air Force Reserves for a combined 30 years of service, commanding a unit of civil engineers and retiring as a Bird Colonel. In 1976, the family moved to Daphne and remained on the Eastern Shore where Perry built many custom homes in the Lake Forest community and later sold Real Estate after retirement. Perry's hobbies included hunting and fishing and watching Alabama football on Saturdays. Perry is survived by his sons Bill (Heidi) Kizer and Randy (Mona) Kizer, grandsons Keith (Meagan) Kizer and Brett Kizer, granddaughter Kelly Kizer, great-grandchildren Owen Kizer, Hudson Kizer, William Evans, and Kaleigh Evans. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimers Association (alz.org). A private visitation for family only will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 11 am until 12 pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens funeral home with a public service beginning in the chapel at 12 pm.
