Peter Willemoes III, age 85, passed away on February 12, 2015. He was predeceased by loving parents, Lema Krohn Willemoes and Peter Willemoes Jr., and loving and obedient son Peter Michael Willemoes. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Betty Ruth Brunson Willemoes; daughters, Karen W. Mann (Charles) and Teresa W. Reynolds (Gene); daughter-in- law, Donna M. Willemoes; sister, Beverly W. Lee; grandchildren, Colin Stewart, Joshua Cassity, Justin Stewart, Audra C. McHenry, Chelsea Willemoes, Lane DeBalsi, Caylee Willemoes, Peter Brooks Willemoes; many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He also leaves behind his beloved Dandie Dinmont, Honey Dew. After graduating Wiggins, MS High School, Peter attended The University of Mississippi for three years before transferring to The University of Southern Mississippi where he graduated with a B.S. in Business Education. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was accepted into O.C.S. where he attained the rank of Second Lt. while serving in the Korean Conflict. Following that, he served as a Special Agent for the U.S. Treasury Dept. (ATF) for 26 years. His first post was Jackson, AL where he met the love of his life, Betty. He was a longtime member of Overlook Presbyterian Church, joining in 1969. Family and friends recall that Peter, known affectionately as "Du", was very devoted to his family and that he was a man of his word, who gave thoughtful consideration before making decisions.
In lieu of flowers, Peter would appreciate a donation made in his memory to: The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama, 1009 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36604. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday, February 14, 2014 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Private family graveside services will follow.
