Ramia Lee Walters Pryor was ushered into Heaven, her eternal home, on Saturday, June 18, 2016. She was surrounded by her family at home. She was born November 16, 1920 in Green County, MS to Polie and Villa Walters. Her family moved shortly thereafter to Wayne County. She married our father, Evan Pryor in 1936 and they made their home in the Pleasant Grove community. There were 3 children born to this union. In 1962 they moved to Big Point, MS where they lived out the remainder of their lives. Our Daddy passed away in February 2004 after 67 years of marriage.
Our Mother was a woman of character. She devoted her life to her family. She was affectionately nicknamed "Butterbean" because she was so fast at shelling them but she was most famous for her Pecan Pie. She leaves a great legacy of godly leadership. She ask Jesus into her heart at an early age and has lived her life in the most Christ-like fashion. Well done are words she will definitely hear from our Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Janice (Charles) Holifield, brother and sister-in-law Terrell (Edith) Walters and one nephew Terry Holifield.
Her memories will forever live in the hearts of her 3 children and their spouses; Sandra (Elmo) McLaurin, Roanoke, VA, John (Glenda) Pryor, Big Point, MS and Cheryl (Bubba) Pigford, Harleston, MS
Her 8 Grandchildren, whom she adored; Tanya (Mike) Jenkins, Lebanon,TN, Stuart (Karen) McLaurin, Daphne, AL, Julie McLaurin Meador, Roanoke, VA, Tiffany (John) Mairs, Bristow, VA, David (Julie) Pryor, Big Point, MS, Robin (Ken) Swarthout, Ocean Springs, MS, Spence (Sherry) Key, Greenville, KY, Sarah (Kyle) Williams, Harleston, Ms. 18 great-grands and 4 great-great grands. Special friends who are truly family; Vicki and Frank Smith, Princeton, W VA, Staci and Jay McBride and family, Charlotte, NC and Dr. Rene' Benson and Jason Oliphant and family, Mooresville, NC. Her best friend and caregiver, Lavania Hammond, whom we could not have made it without her loving care of our Mother. To Lavania, we are eternally grateful. You have been a joy to our family.
To Ramona Sward and Connie Baria of Deaconess Hospice, thank you for the wonderful care you gave her. She loved each of you.
Visitation will be Tuesday,June 21 from 6-8 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, Moss Point, MS. Funeral Service and Burial will be Wednesday, June 22 from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Wayne Co, MS. A visitation will be held from 10-11 am with services beginning at 11:00. Rev. Charles Burks and her son-in-law Rev.Elmo McLaurin will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to our Daddy in the cemetery adjacent to the church.
