Ray L. Howes III
1946-2020
A native of Cleveland, OH and resident of D'Iberville, MS died on Monday, December 14, 2020 at the age of 74. Mr. Howes served in the US Army in Vietnam as a First Lieutentant where he was awarded two bronze stars. After his military service he graduated from Parsons College in Iowa then continued his education at MIT. He was later Director for National Alliance of Business Men for Veterans in Norfolk, VA., Account Executive with AT&T, System Design Engineer for Lucent Technology and worked for Light River Technology. He retired from AT&T. He was also a member of Episcopal Church Of the Redeemer in Mobile.
He was married to Mary Jo Scott Howes for 50 years, whom he met on a blind date for OCS formal. They married on January 16, 1970, the day he was commisioned. Mary Jo had the honor, with his father, of pinning on his Lieutenant Bars. After moving around the country for many years he brought his bride home to her family where they lived with her brother and sister in law, Buster and Bonnie Scott in D'Iberville, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Jean Howes. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Jo Howes; son, Ray L. "RJ" Howes, IV; brothers, Fred and Neil Howes; brothers and sisters in law, Floyd (Bonnie) Scott and Gilbert (Sue) Scott. Interment services will be private in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
