Rayford Clinton Preston (Butch) age 73 died peacefully with his wife, children, his daughter-in-law his brother Dennis beside him on April 11, 2020.
Butch was born November 24, 1946, In Selma AL. Butch was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Marguerite Preston and his brother Earl Preston.
Butch is survived by his wife of 39 years Cheryle, his son Clinton (son-in-law Jason) Hancock, son Jason (daughter-in-law Martha) Preston and his daughter Julie Preston. His 5 grandchildren Courtney Elizabeth (Scott), Emily Ann, Choley Alissa, James Bradley (BJ) Ethan Wade and 1 Great-Great Grand Child Levi O'Neal. Butch is also survived by his brothers Aubrey, Dennis, Carl, a sister Judy, a number of nephews and nieces.
Butch was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army and served his country with pride and dignity. Butch was a member of Parkway Congregational Methodist Church in Eight Mile, AL. His greatest gift to everyone was making them laugh. He enjoyed telling a few jokes just to get a reaction out of someone. His family was his world his beloved wife and his daughter had been his caregiver for many years. They made sure that he had everything he needed and always made sure he enjoyed life up till the end. He enjoyed spending time with his boys working on the house, yard or even his old truck. One of the greatest things he enjoyed doing was watching wrestling and old western on TV. Those that knew him knew this was the only TV watching he cared for.
The family would like to take the time to say thank you to Fresenius Kidney Care in Saraland and Semmes. Dr Valentine, and to Mobile Infirmary Hospice. Thank you to pastor Tommy Ryan.
Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. The family will have a private graveside service and will plan a memorial gathering with formal military honors at a later date.
