It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Armand Robidoux, Sr. to our Lord and Savior. Ray was 92 years old and a man of great faith and love for his family. He died on Monday, August 19, 2019 after a short illness. He was a longtime resident of Pensacola, FL but enjoyed his final years in Mobile, AL. Ray was born February 3, 1927 in Fall River, MA, the son of Arthur Robidoux and Beatrice Mann. He studied for the Catholic priesthood but later joined the Army and served in Germany as part of the post WWII Occupation Forces. Upon return he married his sweetheart of 2 years Sylvia Jean Johnson of Columbia, SC. They were married on April 19, 1952. Ray then left the Army and joined the Air Force where he served for 22 years, 16 of those as an Officer of Special Investigation (OSI Agent). His education culminated with a Master’s Degree in French from Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio TX. After retiring from the Air Force, he moved to Pensacola, FL and taught French and American History for 17 years at Washington High School. Ray was a devoted family man, keeping our Lord and his family central to his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; his son, Raymond Armand Robidoux, Jr. (Lynn); two daughters, Teresa (Sam) Thompson and Jeanette (Donald) Nelson; his brother, Maurice (Doris) Robidoux; son-in-law, Mike Flynn; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; two sisters and his loving daughter, Claudette Flynn. They both now embrace in the loving presence of our Lord. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Monday, August 26, 2019, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated Monday, August 26, 2019, at 11:00 AM from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5023 Camelot Drive, Mobile, AL 36619. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM Monday in Alabama State Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 34904 State Highway 225, Spanish Fort, AL 36527. In lieu of flowers, Ray would want you to use his passing as an opportunity to think back on the wondrous joy of your family, make time to visit with them and enjoy their presence.
