Richard Kurt Gober, a native of Birmingham, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died suddenly Friday, September 29, 2017 at the age of 50. He was employed by Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding as a mechanical engineer; enjoyed playing golf; cooking; collecting guns; and was an avid Alabama Football fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Kent Gober, and his brother, Karl Gober. His survivors include two sons, Luke Daniel Gober and Jake Walker Gober; one daughter, Savannah Olivia Gober; his mother, Betty Joe Lockhart Gober; one sister, Rhonda Gober Woods; two brothers, Kent (Joyce) Gober and Kelly Gober; the mother of his children, Kathy McDonald; one niece; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
