Robert Scott Besson, age 55, of Grand Bay, AL passed away on October 24, 2024. Robert was born on January 20, 1969 in Grand Isle, Louisiana to Ralph and Javene Besson. Robert was a man of many talents, talking being one of his greatest. He never ran out of stories to tell because he never met a stranger. He dedicated his life to working in his community and reaching even further to other nations through ministry, giving him many opportunities for stories to tell. Most of the stories included the many lifelong friends that he had made along the way as well as the joys of the journey.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman who would rather hunt than eat. He was a man of so many talents (It would be a much shorter list to name the things he wasn't able to do) from building a house to mounting a deer- you name it. He enjoyed family gatherings and insisted on being the host. Aside from his own ministry, Yahweh Ministries, Robert played a huge part in the YouthWorks outreach program and was the host for 20 + years - cooking every Thursday evening during the summer months for the entire community and Youthwork missionaries. He was a pillar to the Bayou La Batre community during the relief of Hurricane Katrina and a youth pastor for many years taking youth on multiple mission trips to Mexico. He enjoyed cooking and the multitude of people that he has fed throughout the years enjoyed it too.
If you ever had the opportunity of being in Robert's presence, you just knew you were in the presence of a man that loved deeply and had a wealth of knowledge that he was ready to share with anyone that would listen. He loved his family, but his impact reached far outside the walls of his home; it reached the community in a way that not many people have been able to do. He was loved by many and will be missed greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Besson and Javene (Randall) Calloway Besson; his grandparents, Norman Ryan, Louise (JW) Barber, Irene and Hilton Besson, and Mama Shutts.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Gina Stewart Besson, his children: Kayla, Aaron, Brianna (Jonathan), Cheyenne, and Chance. Grandchildren: Bentley, Kenleigh, and Violet. Sisters: Trashele (Noel), June (Curtis), his grandmother, Mama Jeannie, Uncle Buddy (LaDonna), and Aunt Chris Ray. His father & mother-in-law, Matt & Violet Stewart, brother-in-law's, Clarke (Luraine) and Bill (Jessica), Sister-in-law Micheala (Shane), special friends, John (Valerie) White and Scott (Jill) Arnott as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and too many friends to list.
Paul Bearers: Aaron Besson, Chance Besson, Bentley Besson, Jonathan Hughes, Brielyn Barfield, and John White
