Robert Forrester

August 6, 1935 — January 27, 2021

Robert H. Forrester (Bob),age 85, a native of Webb, Alabama, passed away after an extended illness, on January 27, 2021. A private ceremony for Mr. Forrester will be held on February 1, 2021. Bob graduated from Columbia High School in 1953. He was the class president, captain of the football team, and salutatorian. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1958, where he met Charlotte, his wife of 62 years. Bob proudly worked as a mechanical engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 37 years, where he worked on such important and varied projects as the Tombigbee Waterway and the development of the Space Shuttle program. During his career, Bob worked in Henderson, South Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, and Frankfurt, Germany, as well as Mobile, Alabama, where he worked for 22 years. Bob was a Christian man who loved playing tennis, reading, and watching Crimson Tide football games, but his sole passion in life was his wife and family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Willie Forrester, his father, Raleigh Forrester, and his brother, Raleigh Forrester, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Charlotte, his children, Cynthia Highfield, Chicago, Illinois, Cheryl Blanchette (Michael), Dunkirk, Maryland, Michael Forrester (Christie), San Juan, Puerto Rico, and his grandchildren, Joshua Highfield (Rebekah), Courtney Highfield, Willliam Forrester, and James Forrester. The family extends a special thanks to Prada caregivers Torrie Howze and Ruth DuPont, and Kindred Hospice caregivers Amberly Bisslessi and Jennifer Warren.
