Robert Donald Smith, 93, of Bellefontaine, Alabama, passed away at Providence Hospital (Mobile, Alabama) on Saturday. Mr. Smith was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Mobile with his family as a child. He was employed at Brookley Field for several years and retired in 1979 from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Mr. Smith was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Erline Martin Smith, and is survived by his son, Dale A. Smith (Mobile), his son and daughter-in-law, Mark L. Smith and Mary C. Smith (Dothan, Alabama), grandson, Andrew C. Smith and his wife Anastasia (Birmingham, Alabama), grandson, Kevin L. Smith (Dothan, Alabama), and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service for immediate family only is planned for 12 p.m. (noon), Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
