Roberta Thames

Roberta "Bobbie" Thames passed away on February 11, 2021 in Bay Minette, Alabama. Roberta was born June 12, 1935 in Houston, Texas to George Shelton Jones and Emma Gene Murray. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, James Daniel (JD) Thames, for 66 years. She and her husband had two children, Mitchell Thames and Carla Thames White.
Left to remember Roberta are her siblings Shelton Jones, Sammy Jones, Lynda Brown, and Georgie Ballard, Roberta's children and their spouses - Mitch and Carolyn Thames, Carla (James) White; her 4 grandchildren and their spouses - Jason and Monica Dittfurth, Jennifer and Greg Hester, Stephanie and Eric Gentry, Bobbie and Gabe Riley, and Mimi's 6 great grandchildren - Addison, Kaitlyn, Reagan, Elizabeth, Easton, and Jackson. The grandchildren called her, Mimi.
Roberta was a Kindergarten teacher at Knollwood Christian and Greystone Christian Schools for many years. She was a longtime member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama and a recent member of First Baptist Church of Bay Minette. She loved gardening, reading, and Alabama football.
Roberta is preceded in death by her husband, JD, her son in law James White, her parents, and her siblings, Aubie Jones, Jackie Holmes, and Leslie Jones.
The visitation will be March 4th 2021 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Mobile Memorial Garden Funeral Home. The interment will follow at 2:00pm. Masks and social distancing are strongly recommended. The pallbearers are Sam Morris, Gabe Riley, Jim Nixon, Mike Mason, Bill Barton, and Jerry Timothy. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, P.O. Box 681970, Prattville, AL 36068-1970. Condolences at mobilememorialfunerals.com.
