Ronnie Lee Roberts February 9, 1954 – August 21, 2020 Ronnie Lee Roberts, 66, of Mobile, AL transitioned to heaven on Friday, August 21, 2020, with his family by his side. He was born and reared in Asheville, NC being the youngest child of Fred and Louise Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Brandon, and his sister Carol McHone. Ron started his career of ballroom dancing at the age of 17. He worked for many years at Fred Astaire Dance Studios and various other studios. He danced his way across the states of OK, TX, LA, MS, and AL. Ron won many honors dancing – Overall Teacher Appreciation Competition, Top Teacher in Orlando, Chattanooga Golden Apple Winner, U.S. Pro/Am Ballroom Dance Championships, Grand Champion of U.S. Pro/Am Teacher Appreciation Competitions, and Top Overall Instructor of the Year – to name a few. He was owner of Mobile Dance Studio. Ron was married to Jane Harper Stewart for over 30 years. They met, were engaged, and wed at Fred Astair Dance Studio. The couple performed in numerous dance competitions in Alabama and Louisiana. He enjoyed Alabama football, NASCAR racing, making model cars, many kinds of music, and traveling. Ron was a loving, caring husband, father, papa, and brother. His family was important to him, and he loved them dearly. He is survived by his wife Jane, sons Joshua (Katie) Roberts of Saraland, Michael Collins II of the home; Daughter Curtra (Philip) Whitton of Mobile; grandchildren Randon Hale, Trinity Seitz, Emma Kate Roberts, and Addison Roberts; a brother Richard Roberts of Corpus Christi, TX; brothers-in-law Ronnie McHone of Asheville, NC; Andy Tuxhorn of Plano, TX; Max (Linda) Tuxhorn of Hutchinson, KS; and Elmer (Sue) Tuxhorn of Cleo Springs, OK. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. A private stream of the service will be provided by family and made available for family and friends unable to attend.
