Roy Franklin Barbour, 86, born in Bayou La Batre, AL and longtime resident of Irvington, AL, died Sunday, August 19, 2018. He was a retired commercial fisherman and carpenter and was a US Navy Veteran. He loved catching, cooking and eating Cat Fish and was an avid Alabama Football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Barbour, Sr. and Vurba Ira Goodrum Barbour; his first wife and mother of his children, Emogene Theriot Barbour; his second wife, Martha J. Guy Barbour; his daughter, Brenda Susan Barbour Simmons; two brothers, Milton Barbour and Raymond Barbour, Jr.; one sister, Sheryl Barbour Clark and his grandson, Anthony Roy Barbour, Jr. His survivors include his wife, Rachel Lynette Smith Barbour; his son, Anthony Roy "Tony" (Deborah) Barbour; two brothers, Edward A. Barbour and George Thomas "Dumpy" (Lavenia) Barbour; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grand-children; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. David Cook, will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 at l0:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, August 23, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday morning from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Irvington, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mr. Barbour's name be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Room 260, Memphis, TN 38105.
